CLARION – To help ensure that veterans and active-duty military members, along with their families, are aware of the vast array of services and benefits available to them, Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong/Forest) will host her Second Annual Veterans Expo on Thursday, Oct. 26, in Clarion.
“Last year, we held our first Veterans Expo, and the response from both exhibitors and attendees far exceeded our expectations,” said Oberlander. “Living within the 63rd District are veterans from every war since World War II, peacetime veterans, and men and women currently in uniform. They may not know about everything offered to them or may not have the time to look more into programs. As the wife of a military veteran, I can also offer a unique spousal perspective, and that’s why we also encourage family members to attend, even if the veterans or current service members cannot.”
The event, to be held at Trinity Point Church of God near Tractor Supply in Clarion, will run from 3-6 p.m. During that time, government agencies and nonprofit organizations that offer services to veterans and active-duty military personnel will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
Among the exhibitors participating will be those related to financial services, business and employment, health care, mental health, legal services, drug and alcohol programs, disaster preparedness, and senior-related services.
“Whether our local residents presently serve in uniform or fought for our country 50 years ago, services are available for them,” Oberlander added. “The men and women who donned that uniform to protect the freedoms we hold so dearly are heroes, and this expo is one way in which we can reach out to them and their families and thank them for their service.”
