Oberlander Announces More than $240,000 in Fire, EMS Grants to Benefit Local First Responders
HARRISBURG – Twenty-three fire and emergency medical services organizations in the 63rd District will share nearly a quarter of a million dollars in state fire grants, Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong/Forest) announced today.

“Our local first responders spend an increasing amount of their time raising money to keep their doors open, their vehicles in working condition and their equipment ready at a moment’s notice,” Oberlander said. “When our communities are in need, they are always there to help us in some of life’s most critical emergencies, whether for a structure fire, vehicle accident, flooding or performing life-saving medical treatment. That is why I am pleased this grant program is available to help these first responders meet our needs.”

All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not general fund tax revenue. Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt. The program is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
