Oberlander Applauds Small Games of Chance Reporting Deadline Extension
CLARION -- Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong) today expressed her approval of the deadline extension for nonprofit organizations and local charities to submit Small Games of Chance reports.

“I applaud this decision to give our local fire departments, veterans groups and other local charitable organizations even more time to make Pennsylvania’s significantly updated Small Games of Chance Act work for them, rather than against them, as they work to complete so many beneficial community projects,” said Oberlander. “As the Legislature continues its work to update this outdated law, the work of helping our neighbors through volunteer fundraising should not in any way be obstructed or hindered by overly complicated or misunderstood filing requirements.”

Earlier this week, the Corbett administration announced that the deadline is being extended from Feb. 1, 2013, to Feb. 1, 2014, for documentation required for small games of chance to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

The Small Games of Chance law was updated last session to give nonprofit organizations the ability to increase the prize limits for their small games of chance, thereby raising additional funding for the charitable works they perform in local communities.
