CLARION – Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong/Forest) announced today that area veterans and their families who are in need of specialized assistance are encouraged to visit with a veterans outreach assistance specialist from the American Legion on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning Aug. 14.
“Our area is blessed to have a number of veterans, either those who served decades ago or those who donned the uniform within the past few years,” Oberlander said. “Whether they served during wartime or peace, veterans have earned a number of benefits and are eligible for several government programs and services, even though they and their loved ones may not be aware of them.”
This service, offered by the American Legion and staffed by Bradley Baranski, will be available at Oberlander’s office on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Some of the services available to veterans and their dependents include assistance with compensation, pension, death benefits, education and health care, as well as any issues pertaining to veterans benefits or the U.S. Veterans Administration.
“This assistance is designed to meet their specific needs, and I encourage any veteran or a family member of one to stop by for this help,” Oberlander added.
Appointments are not necessary, and veterans do not need to be members of the American Legion to receive help.
